Flight of the ISS

Today we were very lucky to capture the flight of the ISS from our balcony. You can even see some stars and the moon. Awesome, eh?

Burnaby at night and an ISS sighting

While waiting for the International Space Station to appear, I enjoyed the view from our balcony and watched the moon wander from one place to another.
And then the ISS came into sight and flew by very quickly. Isn’t it amazing that we can see it from the earth?

Another ISS sighting

Once again we were lucky to see the International Space Station flying above us – and to capture its flight. Just see for yourselves!

It’s the ISS again

Once again, standing on our balcony, we saw the International Space Station flying by.
I still can’t believe that it is so easily visible from earth.

We saw the ISS!

Inspired by the Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, we learned a lot about living and working on the ISS, and we found out that we can even see the International Space Station from earth.
So we checked NASA’s website to get some information about where and when it would be visible. Then the waiting and the excitement began – and finally it appeared.
Once you spot it, you simply know. It looks like a star and is moving very fast.
Therefore, after 3-5 minutes the sighting was unfortunately over already. But now I am hooked and try to see it fly by as often as possible.
Well, our first pictures were just little dots in a dark sky, but then we opted for a longer period of exposure to ‘catch’ its flight – and that is what we got. Amazing, eh?
