A relaxing afternoon at Whytecliff Park

Today we spent a wonderful afternoon in the sun at Whytecliff Park.

There was low tide when we arrived, and a few people were exploring Whyte Islet.
We, however, enjoyed the peaceful scenery sitting on one of the many benches – and we were rewarded with seeing birds, sea lions, harbour seals and harbour porpoises.

And we got a beautiful sunset, too.

So much to see at Whytecliff Park

Whytecliff Park never ceases to amaze me. Although I have been there a thousand times (or so it seems), it still has this mesmerizing and soothing effect on me. I always feel good having spent some time there.
Of course, seeing wildlife frequently there – like today’s Anna’s hummingbird, a pair of beautiful seagulls, sea lions, harbour seals, and harbour porpoise – adds to that special feeling, too.

Whytecliff Park clouds and birds

After our little museum excursion, we went to Whytecliff Park – although rain was predicted.
It is always so nice and peaceful out there so that we just wanted to give it a try. And the clouds are always so special.

We were lucky indeed – at least for some time – before the rain came.
Until then we had some company from a crow and a bald eagle.

Dramatic clouds at Whytecliff Park

Not only did we see an amazing number of species at Whytecliff Park today, but those clouds put on a show as well.

Marine mammals at Whytecliff Park

And here they are – all the marine mammals we saw:
harbour seals, sea lions, harbour porpoise, and a minke whale.
Yes, indeed, there was a minke whale feeding right in front of us. At first, I thought it was a group of harbour porpoise, but no, this was a much larger animal out there.
What an incredible experience!

Another Whytecliff Park visit

What a great way to start the week – spending some time at Whytecliff Park!

Today we saw a lot of wildlife there – various kinds of birds and marine mammals.
There never was a dull moment, but there never is.

Whytecliff Park animals

We always have a good time at Whytecliff Park – no matter what the weather is like or what animals we see.

Today we were lucky to see the usual seagulls and crows but also bald eagles, harbour seals, sea lions, and harbour porpoise. A really great day which ended with an amazing sunset over Bowen Island.

Seals, sea lions, river otters and porpoises

Once again we had a lovely time at Whytecliff Park where we saw a lot of wildlife:
harbour seals, sea lions, river otters, and harbour porpoises.

Short stop at Whytecliff Park

On our way back driving along the Sea to Sky Highway, we just had to stop at Whytecliff Park to relax a little, maybe see some wildlife and definitely enjoy a gorgeous sunset. And that is all we did!

What an amazing way to end this beautiful day!

Always something to see at Whytecliff Park

We spent some time before and after sunset at Whytecliff Park today where we saw lots of birds, sea lions, and harbour porpoises – and we had a most beautiful sunset, too.
