I spent about half an hour watching the harbour porpoises Jack and Daisy as well as the beluga whales Aurora and Qila today.
Very relaxing indeed.
Friday, the 13th has proven to be our lucky day as we not only saw our beloved harbour porpoises but also resident killer whales in close proximity to each other.
So we knew that those were definitely resident killer whales because the harbour porpoises were busy foraging and ignoring the large whales. Lucky them!
What better way than to spend my lunch time with Jack and Daisy!
I find it always very soothing to watch the beluga whales and harbour porpoises swimming by.
Whytecliff Park never ceases to amaze me. Although I have been there a thousand times (or so it seems), it still has this mesmerizing and soothing effect on me. I always feel good having spent some time there.
Of course, seeing wildlife frequently there – like today’s Anna’s hummingbird, a pair of beautiful seagulls, sea lions, harbour seals, and harbour porpoise – adds to that special feeling, too.
And here they are – all the marine mammals we saw:
harbour seals, sea lions, harbour porpoise, and a minke whale.
Yes, indeed, there was a minke whale feeding right in front of us. At first, I thought it was a group of harbour porpoise, but no, this was a much larger animal out there.
What an incredible experience!
(to be continued…)
Today I had lunch with Aurora, Qila, Jack and Daisy.
Although I have spent so much time with all of these amazing beluga whales and harbour porpoises I never tire of seeing them over and over again.
We always have a good time at Whytecliff Park – no matter what the weather is like or what animals we see.
Today we were lucky to see the usual seagulls and crows but also bald eagles, harbour seals, sea lions, and harbour porpoise. A really great day which ended with an amazing sunset over Bowen Island.
Once again we had a lovely time at Whytecliff Park where we saw a lot of wildlife:
harbour seals, sea lions, river otters, and harbour porpoises.
On our way back driving along the Sea to Sky Highway, we just had to stop at Whytecliff Park to relax a little, maybe see some wildlife and definitely enjoy a gorgeous sunset. And that is all we did!
What an amazing way to end this beautiful day!
We spent some time before and after sunset at Whytecliff Park today where we saw lots of birds, sea lions, and harbour porpoises – and we had a most beautiful sunset, too.
